Further stay for Mobile Testing Unit in Haltwhistle

Covid-19 mobile testing unit is extending its stay in Haltwhistle for a further two weeks, to make access to testing easier than ever for local residents

Establishment of the unit followed a sharp increase in cases in Haltwhistle and the surrounding area.

The unit is at the Hadrian Enterprise Park and is operating every day from 9am-3pm up to and including Monday, 11 January and is the latest in a number of testing sites across the county for residents to use.

Residents are reminded appointments MUST BE booked. If you develop any symptoms you should self-isolate and book a test immediately by going to nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.

All the sites in Northumberland have detailed clinical operating procedures in place which have been developed in collaboration with clinical experts. The layout has been carefully designed to ensure people can move around safely and prevent spread of the virus.

They’ve also all been risk assessed, to ensure they do not pose any health and safety risks to the surrounding areas. This has been confirmed by the Council’s Health and Safety team following the assessment requirements put in place by the Department of Health and Social Care.

Residents are also reminded that if they’re employed or self-employed on a low income, and can’t work from home while self-isolating, they may be entitled to financial support of £500. More information is available HERE

Northumberland Communities Together (NCT) is also available to provide support to anyone affected by the pandemic.

Perhaps financial circumstances have changed with reduced hours, redundancy or benefit changes. People may be worried about winter bills or financial pressures or may have concerns around shopping, or making sure prescriptions are delivered on time.

Others may be feeling lonely, overwhelmed or struggling with mental health, worried about someone experiencing domestic abuse or concerned about a neighbour.

If so NCT can be contacted on 01670 620015 9am to 6pm 7 days per week.
